VERIZON Samsung Galaxy S3 on Straight speak threeG/4G speeds on I-fivethree5 on AT&T or T-Mobile

    Hi All,
    As the Title says

I have a VERIZON Version of Samsung Galaxy S3. This thread is meant for the Discussion of the Samsung Galaxy S3 CDMA Version. Not the International I9300 or the GSM i747/T999 Versions. Please I repeat, this thread is for the I535 Discussion.

    Coming to the problem.

    1. With the new Jelly Bean 4.1 update on December 16, 2012, Samsung Galaxy S3 I535 became a Global Phone. That means, In the same SIM Slot, You can Put a GSM SIM and a CDMA SIM Card
( My Brother uses CDMA Phone and he has a SIM Card for the Past 3 Years. So CDMA SIM Card is there, but not in USA )

    2. Now, my Phone is Rooted, I have Super SU installed on my I535.
    3. I got APN Manager Pro and Titanium Backup Pro. Both Pro Version Combined for a little more than $8 from Play Store.
    4. I edited the APNs.
    5. I downloaded the SIMPLE Mobile DATA Settings App by Tracfone.
    6. Just click on the above App and the APN Settings for the Simple Mobile will be updated automatically. But You need to have the Root Access and make the APN Manager Pro a Android Program in Titanium Backup Pro. Otherwise I535 will not allow You to edit the APN. You will not see anything on that page, basically.
    7. Now I'm able to get EDGE Speeds, on the T-Mobile Network. I know that it will be the same for the Straight Talk T-Mobile Version as well.

    Additional Information :
I have the Unlimited 4G LTE from Verizon ( I'm going to keep it as long as Verizon offers it and that is the reason, I could not use another version Samsung Galaxy S3 I535) which is used as my Home Internet connection with out any issue for the past 1.5 Years.

So here is my actual question.

Is there any way, that I can get 3G Speeds, or 4G speeds on my I535? AT&T or T-Mobile Network?
If I can flash some Custom ROM, since I have the Root access, will I be able to use, the Straight Talk AT&T SIM Card and get atleast 3G Speeds on the AT&T SIM Card (AT&T Network of Straight Talk)?

When I'm home, I have no issues about the Internet speed. But when I'm out, that is when the actual problem starts. 2G Speeds sucks and I want to browse at a faster pace.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    More additional Information
Without using the SIM card, if I go with the Flashing, I mean, buying the LG220 from Walmart.com and flashing my phone and editing my Phones Details, it is possible, that I will be able to got to the Verizon's CDMA Network, and with that, I will definitely get 3G speeds, which are OK with around 1.5 MBps. Since my I535 is from Verizon, I will not have much problems in browsing at a better speeds.

But I don't want to do all the flashing stuff, frankly looking for some easy way, just like SIM in and out, I'm good to go and use my I535 whichever way I want.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thank You and Peace.

Short answer: YES -- but only on AT&T.

    Long answer:

Your problem is you are on crappy T-mobile. With the Jelly Bean upgrade your phone is now essentially an "international" Galaxy SIII GSM (Samsung I9300) GSM + LTE (SCH-I535) phone. The "international" version of the SIII does not have the high speed 1700 MHz T-mobile bands, only the AT&T bands.

Thanks a lot for the reply, chazzmatt,

AT&T AND STRAIGHT TALK ARE HAVING SOME AGREEMNT ISSUES OR something, don't know What they call Technically, but from the March 1, 2013, AT&T Customers will be Throttled after they reach, 1.5 GB Data Limit, Whether it may be on the 2G or 3G or the 4G Data Speeds. This was told to me by the Straight Talk Representative.

I need the opinion of the People who are using AT&T SIM Cards and if their Data is being throttled after they reach 1.5 GB?

So calling all people who are using the AT&T Straight Talk SIM and if Your Data is really Throttled after You reach 1.5 GB Data Limit?

    Thank You.
If there is a 1.5GB cap, instituted on March 1, no one has gotten to it yet. That was just a week ago.

Net10 (Straight Talk sister company, also owned by America Movil) went to the 1.5GB "AT&T" data cap on March 1, and told the public. Net10 also offered to give the "AT&T" sim customers a "T-mobile" sim which has unlimited data.

However, Straight Talk is in partnership with Wal-Mart, so it's more complicated there. Wal-mart apparently has not OK'ed admitting there's a cap...

Straight Talk reps have been telling customers, YES, we are now also under a 1.5GB cap for "AT&T" sims, while Wal-mart/Straight Talk is still advertising "unlimited" data. A Net10 rep told a media outlet the 1.5 GB cap only applied to Net10, not Straight Talk.

Yet, in emails and on the phone Straight Talk reps are telling customers, YES, you have a cap on "AT&T" sims.

So, which part of Straight Talk do you believe, the left hand or the right hand?

Probably just assume a 1.5GB cap and be pleasantly surprised if it's still the old "approximate" 2GB cap before throttling. (Yeah, there's always been a soft cap, they just wouldn't admit it in advertising, trying to claim blanket "unlimited".)
